‘Regeneration Disc’ installed at the Stone Lane Gardens Sculpture Exhibition 2021.
The 2021 exhibition is entitled ‘Regeneration”, reflecting life beyond COVID19 and celebrating the start of planting in the Stone Lane Garden ‘new arboretum’ area.
Regeneration Disc is my response to this theme as the term ‘regeneration’ evokes an awareness of the absence and presence of physical objects in space. The contrast between the reflective, mirror surface on one side and the matt, black surface on the other makes this suspended sculpture fluctuate between presence and absence. Hiding within its environment thanks to its reflective surface, while becoming a void thanks to the intense black pigment, Regeneration Disc moves by responding to the natural forces surrounding it.
